The exposition of the Museum of Defense and the Blockade was replenished with valuable paintings

 

On April 19, the State Memorial Museum of Defense and Blockade of Leningrad received as a gift a collection of paintings devoted to the feat of the city. The pictures were presented to the museum by the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation. The solemn ceremony was attended by Governor Georgy Poltavchenko and General Director of the Foundation Maria Morozova.

The collection includes 17 paintings telling about life in besieged Leningrad. Of particular value are the three works of 1942-43: paintings "In the hungry city" and "Autumn 1942" by Nikolai Rutkovsky and "View from the window" George Moseev. The date of the ceremony is timed to the anniversary of the decision to rebuild the Museum - April 24, 1989.
