Collection of signatures for the preservation of the blockade substation

A public group of defenders of the Blockade Substation begins collecting signatures in defense of a historic building on the Fontanka River Embankment, Building 3A. Anyone can put their signature with the official appeal to the Governor of St. Petersburg Georgy Poltavchenko.

In addition to collecting signatures, the public group opens an exhibition of photographs of St. Petersburg’s memorial sites associated with the Leningrad blockade. The purpose of this exhibition is to show that the Blockade Substation is just as valuable a monument of architecture and history as the rest of the city. It was the Blockade Substation that became the symbol of the courage of the people of Leningrad, whose work at this substation allowed electricity to be delivered and a tram to be laid in the city besieged by the fascists.
