Pushkin House published blockade diaries

By the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, Pushkin House published a collection of twelve diaries. All diaries taken from family and museum archives are published for the first time. The collection includes memories of both adults and children, who, of course, saw the war from their position.

“We lived in Malaya Posadskaya Street, and before the war with friends, I often ran to a nearby zoo,” Yevgenia Nikolaevna, the author of one of the diaries, said with a sad smile, turning over the pages of the collection. - We loved the elephant Batty, so kind. During the shelling she was contused and soon died. But Hippo Beauty survived. The water supply system did not work, we ran with buckets to the Kronverksky channel and brought her water. That she did not die. "
