The State Memorial Museum of the Defense and Blockade of Leningrad needs to be expanded. This opinion was expressed by Vladimir Pligin, head of the State Duma Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building on April 9, 2016. To date, the museum has more than 50 thousand artifacts, collected, including the townspeople. But only 3.7% of them were exhibited, so by 2018 it is planned to open a new museum building. Three places are considered to accommodate the new building of the museum: on the territory of Moscow Victory Park, on the corner of Basseinaya Street and Gagarin Avenue, next to the CCM "Petersburg ", and the territory next to the Piskarevsky memorial cemetery.
